At the weekend from 20th to 22nd August, the Hip Hop Kemp was held in the Czech Republic, Hradec Králové. For us this was a great opportunity to organize the very first national championship for all Czech urban artists. Once arrived we soaked in the international atmosphere with party people from all over Europe celebrating and dancing along to their musical favs.

The Hip Hop Kemp festival area was located in an old military area. The PAINT CLUB stage was based in a former hangar surrounded by further cool festival attractions like bungee jumping, chocolate-wrestling, famous live-acts and many more. As a matter of course the crowd of the festival was in a good mood therewith a perfect base for the PAINT CLUB championship.

Even though we weren’t listed in the schedule there was a large audience interested in the creative battles between the artists. As the second largest visitor group are Polish Hip Hop Fans we integrated a polish team consisting of four girls. This proofed to be a good decision as they brought their own fan base and drew two amazing pictures.

In the first round of 60 minutes, the theme was “Wild West”. With there own artistic conversion of the topic True Pattern and the TWR Brothers convinced the audience the most with the decibel reader going far beyond 112 decibel. In the second and final round the two remaining teams got 90 minutes to draw the randomly chosen theme Mafia. At the end of the final round the „TWR Brothers“ have captured the victory – and were crowned by the audience with a massive 117 decibel input.

The Hip Hop Kemp was a great place to be and we like to thank the organizers for inviting us. We will definitely spread the word and help getting even more party people from Germany involved. But one thing is already sure by now – we will be back next year crowning a new Czech Champion in Hradec Králové.
